Passing of Past President, Life Member, 50 Year member, and Chaplain Emeritus Stuart L. Gates

It is profound sadness that I announce the passing of Hudson Valley 50 year member with 67 Years of Service to Hudson Valley, Past President, and Chaplain Emeritus Stuart L. Gates. A member of Stony Point in Rockland County Stu was known by many in our 16 County Region and though out the State. He will be missed by our organization.
Stu past away last night. Details for funeral arrangements will be forthcoming and will be posted when known.
Stuart and I became friends through our work in the Hudson Valley. When I wrote the 100-year history of the Association, Sturart thanked me with tears in his eyes after reading the section on his father's activities in the Hudson Valley. One of our 100-year activities was the recreation of our first meeting in 1889 in the city of Kingston. We assigned about twenty members to have speaking roles in the recreation, Stuart played a major role and did an excellent job. I have always had favorable memories of Stuart.
